Gastite Representative – CSST (2 hrs)
Corrugated Stainless Steel Tubing for Residential Inspectors
Properly bonding and grounding the Corrugated Stainless Steel Tubing (CSST) System may reduce the risk of damage and fire from a lightning strike. Lightning is a highly destructive force. Even a nearby lightning strike that does not strike a structure directly can cause systems in the structure to become electrically energized. Differences in potential between systems may cause the charge to arc between systems. Such arcing can cause damage to CSST, including holes. Bonding and grounding should reduce the risk of arcing and related damage. As an inspector, are you going to confirm that the CSST gas system is properly bonded to the grounding electrode system? This presentation will focus on proper installation of CSST fuel gas-piping.
1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
CSST Postmortem (2 hrs)
postmortempōs(t)-ˈmor-təm noun: a discussion or analysis of something (such as an event) after it has ended. We’ve reviewed bonding/grounding, we’ve heard from the Texas State Fire Marshal’s office, and we’ve heard from a Gastite representative. What does it all mean? During this session, we will restate the CSST issues after hearing from authorities in the field. This will be an interactive experience. The goal with this session is to analysis what we’ve learned and for the attendees to have confidence when inspecting CSST.
